"I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it. ~ Pablo Picasso"
Emma Meneghini is a Master's student in Data Science with a strong international background, pursuing a double degree programme between the University of Padua, Italy, and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from the University of Bologna, Italy, and completed a First-Class Honours degree through a double degree with the University of Glasgow, UK. Her academic achievements and success in international settings have been recognised with a scholarship from the University of Padua, reflecting her strong dedication, independence and determination to be self-funded throughout her education.
Emma's passion for Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Engineering has inspired her to delve into Machine Learning, where she sees these fields seamlessly united. This passion drives her current Master's thesis in collaboration with N3Cat, which focuses on Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) for graph classification tasks. Her research involves generating synthetic graph datasets and developing a regressor to predict GNN performance on particular graphs.
Beyond academics, Emma has actively fostered international friendships and collaboration through tutoring and volunteering. As an academic tutor at the University of Glasgow, she supported undergraduate students in Probability and Statistics. Her roles as an Erasmus Buddy in Padua and a mentor at the University of Bologna further allowed her to assist peers in navigating academic and cultural transitions. These experiences not only strengthened her leadership and communication skills, but also reflect her commitment to learning and her belief in the importance of collaboration within a global academic community.
